Starting from the performative motif of "stacking stones," the work is imbued with deep contemplation on the act of stacking stones. The process of finding suitable stones within a given environment, stacking them, letting them collapse, stacking them again, and collapsing again is itself an attitude toward life and a mode of existence. Here, "stone" is no longer merely a natural object or a mere feature, but is represented as a complex form symbolizing the accumulation of existence, the layers of time life has traversed, and the inner will of humanity. By tearing Korean paper and using vinyl to imprint the shapes of individual stones, then stacking and repeatedly joining them in a collage style, the resulting stone forms extend beyond the external landscape into the landscape of the human inner self.
